The verdict on my latest gear - The Hydro Flask

I love Hydro Flask.

Thing #1

The Hydro Flask helps me drink more water.

It seems like I can’t go anywhere online or in real life, without this idea that “humans need water” shoved in my face. The funny thing is that when I drink more water, I don’t feel terrible. Huh? Weird.

Having a water bottle around helps me consistently remember to stay hydrated. It has really helped with my efforts to stay active on a daily basis. Drinking water throughout the day just feels right, and I think that the cold water is really what draws me to it. I really like knowing how many ounces of fluids I’m consuming every day.

Thing #2

It’s sexy.

In a way the bottle is a fashion statement. I’ve decked it out with stickers from places that I care about, and it’s yet another way to express myself. The stainless steel, and powder coating make it an elegant addition to your daily carry gear. The metal is extremely shiny, which is awesome because I like shiny things. The rubber seal fits on perfectly and lets out a reassuring “Squeeeek” to let me know that it is on tight enough. The plastic that makes up the lid and lid holder feel sturdy and are made from high-quality BPA-free plastic. It has a small rubber grip around the circumference of the lid which ensures I can open it even after the Incredible Hulk gets his hands on it.

Thing #3

Do you want cold water? Because this is how you get cold water.

I didn’t always like cold water. In fact, there is a vast amount of research that suggests that human beings are better off drinking room temp or even warm water. Now I love cold water, and there isn’t anything more satisfying in the summer heat, as taking a delicious swig from a nice cold water bottle. This bottle is insane. I’ve left it in the car where it has gotten so hot I can hardly touch it, and the water inside is still cool. For hot drinks I kept tea in it, and was able to have hot tea throughout the day. I’m also looking forward to snowboard season when I don’t have to worry about my water bottle freezing like it has in the past.

1 month verdict: I love it

So far so good. I have yet to find anything I don’t like about it, and I should find something before too long. If you are someone who is in the market for a water bottle, this is for you. If you are someone who wishes their Nalgene kept things cool, shell out 34 bucks and give it a go.

You can get them at your local REI store or head over to their site, and see all of their swag.
