New Actions for New Results
September 25, 2015
I’m sure you’ve experienced a similar frustrating scenario before:
You’re running late. You do one last check before leaving and notice that you are missing your keys. You run around your house frantically looking “everywhere” for a while. You then realize that you have looked in the same place on the counter almost 4 times now. It’s like you created a Nascar track in your house and you keep running it over and over. At this moment when I experience this the phrase: “Insanity is defined as doing the same action twice and expecting a different result”. The keys you are looking for are always in the place you look at for the first time.
It’s such a simple realization in the moment. I have to wonder how many of us get up in the morning, go and live our days and then wonder why we aren’t living the super satisfying lives we always dream about. I think it’s time to stop hoping that at some point in our search, the keys will be on the counter, and time to start exploring places we know we haven’t checked yet.
It seems weird to live by focusing on what you have already done, and then doing something completely different. I think it is exactly what we need to find the thing we have been looking for all of these years.
